I thought it might be fun for y'all to see what is on my DVR. People ask me all the time what I watch and why. Not sure why they ask me that but I seem to get that question a lot. So, inquiring minds want to know so here we go.
I'm sitting in front of the TV writing this so I'm going right down in order of appearance on the DVR. This may take awhile. We have a long list. However, keep in mind this is the middle of the summer and some of our regular shows aren't on the agenda. I'll update when the new seasons starts.
1. The Bachelorette. I know, please don't judge. While I usually don't watch it, I am more than intrigued by bachelorette, Andi and Josh Murray. You know Josh - the twin but not really just brother - of our UGA Bulldawg Aaron Murray. Seriously, they look just alike which yes, ladies, it means they are both as cute as all get out. I have actually already watched Monday night's episode and know that Josh is one of the top 4 contenders for Andi's heart. She will be going to Josh's hometown and meet his family. Needless to say, I cannot wait for next week's episode.
2. Sarah 101. This is a HGTV show that I love. It comes along about once every 2 months on HGTV and while they still play old episodes, I still keep watching. Sarah Richardson just has the best design style which I guess that means it's the style that I like. ha! She's the bomb in the design world if you ask me.
3. The Big Bang Theory. Yes, still watching. While D and I have probably seen every episode in the show's 7 seasons, they never get old. Love this quirky show.
4. Chrisley Knows Best. Have a'mercy, this show cracks me up. Have you seen it? It's a reality show following the Chrisley family of Atlanta on the USA network. Oh, I can't even describe it. It's like a train wreck, you just can't look away even if you wanted to.
5. Castle. Castle continues to be one of my favorite shows. Rick and Kate just can't be beat.
6. Duck Dynasty. What can you say about the Duck Commander family? Faith, family and ducks. That's their motto. A new season started a few weeks ago so this does offer a much welcome break from every other show's reruns.
7. And then there is my list of cooking shows .. First, the Pioneer Woman. Ree Drummond may be my favorite home chef/cooking blogger/cookbook author of all time. I just love her, her family, the ranch she lives on, the tops and jewelry she wears ... everything about her. She's a delight.
8. Trisha's Southern Kitchen. I'm also a huge fan of Trisha Yearwood and her brand of cooking. She doesn't take herself too seriously. I absolutely crack up, even though I've heard it tons of times, when she calls her husband, Garth Brooks, "Gartha Stewart."
9. Southern at Heart. This show is my new cooking show addiction. Damaris Phillips is a winner of the food challenge show, Food Network Star and a trained chef who lives in Kentucky. She has a fabulous sense of humor and she, too, wears the cutest clothes, aprons, and jewelry. I love when cute aprons are involved. I think we could be best friends. She is a breath of fresh air for the Food Channel.
10. Shark Tank. What can I say? We are entrepreneurs at heart so this shows just speaks to us.
11. Say Yes to the Dress. I don't think any explanation is needed for obvious reasons.
12. Something Borrowed, Something New. In case you are unfamiliar, this "wedding dress" show takes a different turn and involves a wedding dress heirloom that a designer reworks to rival a brand spanking new dress. Then the brides has to make the decision between the old-made-new dress or a brand new dress. It's riveting. (TLC on Friday Bride Night).
13. Your Move with Andy Stanley. I record all of Andy's sermons and watch them. They are just that good. I have been known to watch them twice.
That's pretty much it but I think that's enough. Like I said, the list will change when the likes of Scandal, Dancing with the Stars and The Voice return for a new season. Until then, happy watching!
This life truly is a celebration - enjoy the journey! I'm a Southern girl who loves to read, cook, travel, tailgate with my family at UGA football games, and shop sales at the Belk. I adore my husband and children and love Jesus! Thanks for joining me here at my little spot on the internet where I chat about all the things.

Oh, you make me smile ....
Y'all. I might have mentioned how much I am enjoying Harry Connick Jr. as an American Idol judge. I also might have mentioned that I saw him once live and in person in NYC on Broadway in "The Pajama Game" and oh my word, he is one talented fella. Not to mention, he's adorable.
I saw this video on another blog and it just made me smile so big. I mean really. How cute is this?

It's Premier Week!
So I've told you how much I love this time for year for several days but haven't mentioned yet another reason for my love of September. The new Television Season! It's Season Premier week and I for one, could not be happier about it. Here are the ones I've been waiting for ....
1. Last night's Castle. D and I didn't discover Castle until the second season which prompted us to quickly go back and watch the first one. We've never looked back. We're into their 6th season now. I thought the season opener was fabulous for several reasons:
a. She said Yes! The last moments of last season's cliffhanger left Kate and Castle in the park with a marriage proposal in the air. I would have loved to see them tell Martha and Alexis the news but lo, that didn't happen.
b. While set for the time being in D.C., the cast of supporting characters is new. I liked it. Of course, I miss Ryan, Esposito and Lanie but I have a feeling we'll get back to NYC eventually.
c. Alexis has a new boyfriend from Costa Rico named Pi. While I'm not crazy about his character, I love the interaction that Castle has with any of Alexis' boyfriends.
d. Apparently, Castle is going to die in 24 hours. I doubt it. He is the star of the show. This is a To Be Continued so we really won't know until next Monday night. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
2. Nashville: I can hardly wait for this season premier Wednesday night. This is Season 2 of this fabulous show. Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere are spot on as friends/enemies in this show set in the midst of the Country Music Capital. I love the music, the guest appearances by country music legends (especially Vince Gill) and Deacon (he's my favorite). The season ender left Rayna and Deacon in a very serious car crash. I can't wait to see what happens.
3. Big Bang Theory: This continues to be one of the best written shows on television. This ensemble cast led by Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is super talented and funny. It amazes me when writers can continue to write scripts that are laugh-out-loud funny. Season premier is Thursday.
4. Modern Family: Again, another awesome ensemble cast with great writers. It's no wonder they continue to win Emmy awards for this show.
5. Scandal: We've got to wait until next Thursday (October 3rd) to see what the Gladiators are up to. This show is intense but totally worth it. It takes D and I about an hour and half to watch this show because we have to keep replaying to understand what is going on. There is no getting up for a snack during this one. You have to stay focused. Makes me wonder though, is this what our political system is really like?
6. Dancing with the Stars: Yes, I know, last week was the Season Premier but I just watched it on the DVR over the weekend so I got a late start. It's a little different this year. The show is only on Monday night (no results show on Tuesday) so everything happens on one night. They dance and then one goes home. Did it surprise anyone else that Keyshawn Johnson was the first to go home? I thought he was good. No offense to Bill Nye (after all, I love him as the Science Guy) but he can't dance. He stayed, America? Really? It's a strange world we live in.
7. Duck Dynasty: Again, the new season has been on for about a month now but it never disappoints as good, ole wholesome entertainment. I love those bearded boys. Reality tv at its very best.
8. Revenge: Oh, Revenge, how we have a love/hate relationship. First season? Amazing. We saw Emily Thorne as a focused daughter determined on avenging her father's imprisonment and ultimate death. Second season? Iffy at best. The show seemed to lose its direction. I couldn't decide if I really wanted to be a part of it or not. I'm not willing to give up yet, though. I'll give you one more try, Revenge, don't let me down.
9. The Middle: Okay, to be honest, I really didn't like this show at first. However, D loved it. He recorded on the DVR so I sat patiently while he watched it. Gradually, I warmed to this show like no other. It is the quirkiest, most unusual show you'll ever watch. I've always been a Patricia Heaton fan so I guess it's no surprise I finally came around.
10. Shark Tank: This is the best show. I guess since I live with an entrepreneur who has started and owns several companies, we think this show is inspiring and fascinating. It will renew your faith in the American dream. You'll see men and women have amazing ideas and then become immensely successful (all with the support of the sharks, of course). You'll see some things that are utterly ridiculous. It's great television.
And that my friends is a look at my favorites. The jury is still out on which new shows I'll like this season. I'll keep you posted.

We're all a-Twitter about TV
Okay, I few quick things . . .
This week begins the new fall tv schedule and premiers all of our old favorites. Well, you may well remember that I am huge (did I mention huge?) fan of Castle. I adore this show. I'm really not a fan of most murder/crime solver/police dramas but this one is different. Well . . . last season's finale left us sick at our stomachs because our main girl, Kate, was shot, square in the chest, with lots of lots of blood and ooh and ick while speaking at their captain's funeral. Which is a whole other story. Anyway, Rick professes his love for Kate as she's laying on the ground bleeding. Yes, he does. Says he loves her and everything right to her face. Well, this is a long story and you really need to watch it but thankfully, Kate recovered all in the season premier last night and low and behold tells Rick she doesn't remember anything about the shooting . . . but she was telling a fib. Because at the end, when she's talking to her counselor, guess what? She tells him she remembers everything which means?? Yes, she heard Rick say he loves her. But remember she told him she doesn't remember anything. Oh.oh.oh. Kids, this is going to be good. Good I tell you.
So since we're talking tv, D and I were total nerds last night and set our DVR for all the new shows that we want to check out as well as some old favorites. I'll take you through our line up. Now, keep in mind, we will pick and choose between all of these because after all, we have set a new tv goal to go back and watch all of the seasons of the now-ended series, "Friday Night Lights." I've heard for years how good this show is but sometimes when you come into something in the middle, it's a little overwhelming. So our NetFlix account is now queued up for all 47 seasons. It may take us awhile.
Okay, the new season highlights according to the Wileys:
Mondays: Castle, of course. The Sing-Off (love this show); By the way, Dancing with the Stars - no thank you, not this season.
Tuesday: Slow night for us. We'll check out Biggest Loser but if that doesn't excite, we'll keep the tv off this night.
Wednesday: We'll bounce back and forth between Up All Night (this looks good, we'll see), Modern Family and The X Factor. The X Factor just intrigues me. I want to see what Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul have been up to.
Thursday: Ohh . . this is a Big night at our house. D has been just giddy about the premier of the new Charlies Angels. Having grown up with the original angels, I'm kinda curious myself. Of course, The Office has a new boss (can anyone really replace Steve Carell?) and we've got to see how that plays out. Also, love The Big Bang Theory on Thursdays. This has to be the quirkiest, quickest, well-written sit-com on television right now. The ensemble cast is one of the best. I always say that any show that makes me laugh out loud is a keeper. Now, a disclaimer. You either "get" this show and like it or you don't. E and N don't like it so I can only guess that they don't get it. Honestly, it's a strange kind of humor. That's us - a strange kind of humor.
Friday: Okay, a couple of thoughts here. D loves Chuck. I can take it or leave it. But the fact that they have moved Extreme Makeover: Home Edition from Sunday night to Friday night presents a huge problem. However, D and I got out our DVR manuel last night and guess what? You can actually watch one show and record another. Well, there you go. Problem solved.
Also, I've been wanting to watch Blue Bloods. I think this is the second season but I keep seeing that the main character is played by Tom Selleck. I'm sorry but I don't care how old he is, the man is so handsome and I just like him. Is it because I watched every single episode of Magnum P.I. from 1980 til 1988? And then the final season of Las Vegas? And then him and Monica on Friends? Yes, yes it is.
Saturday: Reserved for SEC football. End of story.
Sunday: Okay. Like I said, Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Undercover Boss have always been staples here. However, time marches on and things change and now, well, we're a couple without a show. Oh yes, there's always Sunday night football. :) Again, the tv will probably stay off this night.
Okay, so that's the DVR schedule for the 3 major networks but you know that there's always The What Not to Wears and The Say Yes to the Dresses on our TLC channel. And of course, the Cake Boss. Oh, I watched The Cake Boss, Baby Edition last night. I'll swan, Mrs. Cake Boss looked like a movie star giving birth to the baby boy and when Mr. Cake Boss sobbed when he held that child, well, I did too. And that man, as a surprise to the Mrs. for her baby shower, made a cake the exact (exact I promise) replica of the baby's new nursery. I have never seen anything like it. He's incredibly talented. He likes to act all tough and stuff but the man's a teddy bear when it comes to his family. Gotta love him.
One more thing . . . since we've been away from each other, I did something big. I have joined Twitter but I don't tweet. I just stalk everyone else just like I do on Facebook. E says because of our business that we need to be tuned into these social media-type things. I try not to spend too much time on them because honestly, if you aren't careful, you can waste some serious time on there. But I did see one of Rick Warren's tweets for today. I know this because I follow him on Twitter. While he tweets. Okay, seriously, this is good. You might want to give it some thought.
We want intelligence. God wants obedience.
We want confidence. God wants dependence.
We want relevance. God wants reverence.
And that my friends is good stuff. Lots better than any ole television show will ever be.
